Course Overview

A Certified Nursing Assistant course is designed to prepare students to provide basic care to patients in healthcare settings like hospitals, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities. Nursing assistants work under the supervision of licensed nurses and are essential in supporting patients with daily activities and monitoring health conditions.

Course Duration

  • Full-Time: 4 to 12 weeks
  • Part-Time or Evening Classes: 3 to 6 months

Course Objectives

 

  • By the end of the course, students will be able to:
  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a nursing assistant.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and toileting.
  • Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure).
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Maintain patient hygiene and safety.
  • Follow infection control and emergency procedures.
  • Support the emotional and psychological needs of patients.
  • Report and document patient information accurately.

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 16–18 years old (depending on local laws)
  • Language Proficiency: Basic reading and writing skills in the language of instruction

End-of-Life Care

  • Hospice care
  • Supporting families and emotional care

Clinical Practicum

  • Hands-on experience in a healthcare setting
